Mannarino, PhD, is Director of the Center for Traumatic Stress in Children and Adolescents and Vice Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,and Professor of Psychiatry at Drexel University College of Medicine. A leader in the field of child traumatic stress since the 1980s, Dr. Mannarino has conducted extensive research on the clinical course of traumatic stress symptoms in children and the development of effective treatment approaches for traumatized children and their families. He is the recipient of honors including the Child Maltreatment Article of the Year Award from the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC) and the Legacy Award from the Greater Pittsburgh Psychological Association. A past president of APSAC and of the Section on Child Maltreatment of the Society for Child and Family Policy and Practice (Division 37) of the American Psychological Association, he maintains an active clinical practice.
